Ministry of India, Department of Revenue
Central Board of Excise & Customs, New Delhi

Subject:    Problems faced by EHTP Units when the goods purchased from Traders - Reference from Department of Electronics.

1.    Representations have been received from the EHTP Units through the Department of Electronics that there is inordinate delay in rewarehousing the import consignments by the excise ranges. It has been represented that the excise ranges take almost a day in -re warehousing the bonded goods from the port of import to the EHTP Units. As a consequence of this production gets held up till the consignment is re-warehoused.

2.    The matter has been examined in the Board. I am directed to say that thought a large number of formalities are required to completed by the Central Excise Staff at the time of re-warehousing of the goods, the field formations should be instructed to ensure re-warehousing of goods expeditiously.

Unnecessary delay/ harassment to Trade should be avoided in all cases and stringent action should be taken against earning Officers.
